Spryfield Lions and a wintery Eastern Shore road trip
Jan 10 – U9 Black versus Chebucto exhibition game
Our biggest challenge yet, Chebucto got a ton of shots and goals in the first half. Our team dug in and responded by focusing on the game plan and elevated our play to have an excellent second half. None of our players gave up and got better as the game went on showing resilience and strength.
Sully scored the lone goal on his side followed by an electric celly to earn player of the game on his side. Raphael was looking like a quarter back even stopping with the puck and pointing where he wanted our players to go! Raph scored a goal from way out, where the puck flew up in the air and banked of the goalie to earn player of the game. Maura with her absolute shut down defense and zero quit earned our work horse award after last game when she was hoping to win it but said “maybe next game”.
Jan 11 – Snowy drive to Eastern Shore
We battled the winter roads and called up two players from Development Lachlan and Max to fill our roster and wow, they played excellent and looked right at home with instant chemistry with our group and game plan! Against a tough eastern shore team, we battled close games where we executed the game plan making good decisions over and over. We had 2 players chasing the puck, 2 spreading out and were firing passes up the boards. Everything was clicking, you could tell we really elevated our game with the tough matchup yesterday!
Roman was laying everything on the line defending our net and rushing to the other end creating scoring opportunities and battling to earn player of the game for his side! With a few players missing and new lineups, Roman elevated his game to help lead our team with a strong game.
Erik used his patience on defence to create turnovers then he would either send the puck hard up the boards to our streaking players or dangle the team himself to score a goal from a rocket shot from way out. He earned player of the game for his side.
Ace had one mission from the coaches during this game, use his speed to pressure the puck, he earned the work horse award for being everywhere out there and eventually rushing end to end then and assisting on Lachlan’s exciting game winning goal!
